Carpenter Representative Honored for Advancing Wage Justice and Equity in Baltimore

Baltimore, MD – The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters is proud to recognize Council Representative John Barber for receiving the Wage Justice Impact Award from the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights.

Barber was honored with a City of Baltimore Certificate of Recognition signed by Mayor Brandon Scott, commending his “outstanding contributions to protecting civil rights, advancing equity, removing barriers, and expanding accessibility” across the city.

Through his work with the Carpenters Union, Barber has been a leading voice in ensuring that construction workers receive fair wages, safe job sites, and equal access to career opportunities. His advocacy has helped strengthen Baltimore’s local workforce, uplift families, and promote accountability among contractors on publicly funded projects.

“This recognition means a lot, not just for me, but for every worker who’s fought for fair pay and respect on the job,” said John Barber. “The fight for wage justice is about giving people a fair shot to build a better life, and I’m proud to be part of a union that stands up for that every day.”

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters continues to partner with local leaders, city agencies, and advocates to advance wage justice and economic opportunity for all Baltimore residents.
