We were honored to lend several items that are featured in the National Liberty Museum’s, The Forgotten Freedom: Assembly at 250 exhibit in Philadelphia. The display includes a pin cabinet crafted by our apprenticeship program, featuring pins from the 43rd General Convention of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
Seeing items like our convention pins displayed alongside a charter from 1887, originally issued to Philadelphia Local 8, now Local 158, is a reminder of the generations who built our union. The exhibit highlights the American freedom of assembly and shows how people have gathered to advocate, organize, and fight for workers’ rights.
The Carpenters’ Union history reflects the same traditions. Generations of skilled tradespeople came together to improve wages, working conditions, and opportunities for future members. Seeing our union’s history honored in this exhibit shows that collective organizing has always advanced progress for workers and their communities.
